Falling apart

Let's see what's going on... Talya's Tungsten T5 decided to eat its addresses on its last sync, my parents' Mac Mini stopped booting, and my work MacBook Pro's backlight failed. It's not quite crisis mode, as I have some ideas for approaching each of these, but I'm not very thrilled by everything coming apart at once.

I tried to get some Sudafed for my allergies on Sunday, and I found that I had to take a ticket to wait in line at the pharmacy. California logs the purchase of pseudoephedrine products since you can apparently make amphetamines from them. I stood around for about ten minutes, and then found that they didn't have the generic.

“OK, so give me the Sudafed, 24 hour extended release.”

“Sure.” She pulls out a binder. “Can I see some ID?”

I show her my license.

“I'm sorry, sir, but I need a California driver's license.”

“I'm a resident of the State of New York. I don't have a California driver's license.”

Thus I ended up buying the phenylephrine, which isn't time release and isn't working on me at all.

Some things are going right. I found that the oven in my apartment has a self-cleaning mode, so now I can have something hot for dinner when I get home. I dropped by Albertson's and got some chicken nuggets, so I'm getting some protein.

Some small comfort.

Ouch. People's Republic of California strikes again.

Hope things (and hardware) get better soon.

I'd be happy to pick up some Sudafed for you if you'd like...let me know. Of course, they'll probably say that I need a New York driver's license to buy it.

Avi, I found the disks that came with the mini. Ari will use them when he comes back from his friends house. Mom

Well, the Missing Sync people responded with this HUGELY long email. Of course, being that I have a final tomorrow morning and a paper to finish by graduation on Monday, it'll have to wait.
I'll keep you updated and keep eating those chicken nuggets!
