Movin' on up

Movable Type 3.2 is out, and they have a break on pricing, so I'm finally taking the plunge and upgrading. First item, though, is to move to MySQL from the Berkeley DB that I'm using now. Easy? No, Pair's reaper kept killing my transfer script.

So I'm staring at the logs, and it hits me: “Exception for Movable Type”. They have an exception for any process called “mt.cgi”! So I rename my transfer script to that, and it works. This is my test to see if posting still works.

If so, then it's time to download and install 3.2. Wish me luck.

Wow. I'm on Pair and haven't seen any exception called.

I am getting the feeling that the new spam stuff is CPU intensive so I wouldn't be surprised if it came to this.

No, they have an exception for the main MT script, so you can hammer with it during rebuilds with no problem. But the transfer script isn't covered by the exception.
