Rant: Bank fees
Back in December I took advantage of one of my magazine's early renewal offers, and signed up for two years for $63. I sent in my check. It was cashed.
A month ago, they send me a renewal notice. I send back a note asking where my check went. Yesterday a little card arrived saying that they had no record of my payment. Duh! Of course you don't. Why would you have billed me if you hadn't?
So I called up my bank. $5 to dig up an old check. Give me a freakin' break! But what am I supposed to do? It's better to eat $5 to save $63 than to write off the $63.
I now officially hate my bank.
