Apple Bugreporter update notifications

A few days ago I logged into Apple's Bugreporter and there was a new checkbox:

[ ] Email me when a bug report I originate is modified.

So I checked it.

I get emails now:

From: radar@appl-.com
To: avi@drissma-.com
Subject: Apple Bug Reporter problem update notification

A problem you reported to Apple Computer has recently been modified. The problem id is 3093648.

You have received this notification because your Bug Reporter preference indicates you would like to receive these notifications.

Apple Bug Reporter: https://bugreporter.apple.com

OK. Not even the bug title. So I login.

If you've used Apple's Bugreporter, you know that it's the most useless thing. You have five columns. Bug number, title, creation date, severity, and state. The only thing that ever changes is state. It's either "Open/Verify", "Open/Analyze", or "Closed/Duplicate". You can't see any comments by Apple engineers. You have absolutely no display of any progress on your end.

Which is why I find this option hilarious. That bug has been changed. What's changed? There's no way to know. At all. Except to email a human at Apple (dts@apple.com) and ask them, wasting their time.

Why even bother with this?
